SOLITAIRE LODGE
ROTORUA
A
luxury lodge on Lake Tarawera
 |
Personal Impression:
Located about 30 minutes from Rotorua. At first I thought it was too
far out but when I arrived it all seemed worth the drive. This
is a very special place and once you arrive you will not want to
leave. The lodge has a comfortable and inviting feel immediately.
The Lodge:
The lodge has been offering luxury accommodations now for thirty
years. Solitaire and Huka Lodge were the first true luxury lodges in
New Zealand. The property is in a perfect location with views
of the lake from every room. The main lodge rooms are comfortably
furnished and the dining area is light and bright. All rooms have
huge windows to take advantage of the scenery outside..
Accommodations:
These are really big rooms. Rather than being divided into
smaller areas a lot of the rooms features really oversized bedrooms
that give a truly decadent feel to the accommodations. Bathrooms are
large with separate shower and bathtubs. Many rooms have decks
to sit and enjoy the lake. Every convenience is offered here
and even the twin bedded room features two kings. Many of the rooms
feature a nautical theme with round windows looking out onto the
beautiful bush outdoors.
Activities: Much is centered on enjoying the lake.
Canoes, dinghies and trout fishing gear and tackle are available
complimentary to all guests. The lodge has boats at their disposal
for charter for exploring the lake. Of course swimming and possibly
a visit to hot water beach where the natural hot water Springs are
located and the water is a constant 38 degrees centigrade year
round. Guides for fishing or visiting the local sites of
tourist interest in Rotorua can be arranged There is a spa for
guests use and also a stroll in the herb garden where you are
surrounded by birds of the area is always a delight.
.
Dining:
Dinner is served in the main dining rn the main dining room and the table can seat up
to 20 guests. If you prefer private dining or dining in your suite
is available. Pre dinner drinks, a four course dinner and breakfast
are included in the rates.
