Personal Impression: This is the first of the true luxury lodges in New Zealand and has enjoyed a reputation for luxurious accommodations and fine food for years.  Today the cuisine, rooms and the grounds on the spectacular Huka River still deliver on the promise of a truly memorable experience.

Location: In Taupo close to so many attractions it is impossible to list them all here. The spectacular and mighty cascades of water forming the Huka Falls are a short 900 feet from Huka Lodge, on the banks of the Waikato River.

Accommodations:  Huka Lodge features 20 luxurious suites all only 65 feet from the river.  All the suites are very secluded in the lush park like grounds of the lodge. The suites are spacious and decorated in light peaceful colors.  The bathrooms feature heated floors, sunken bathtub, separate shower, double sinks and walk in dressing areas.

Public Rooms:  The lodge features very comfortable and luxurious public rooms.  Pictured below is the inviting Lodge Lounge. This is where pre-dinner cocktails are served.  Also featured below is the outdoor dining area if you chose to eat on the deck and enjoy a sunset and the beautiful lodge grounds.
 

Dining: Huka Lodge is famous for its outstanding food.  Dinner is a five-course event featuring the finest and freshest New Zealand ingredients available.  Breakfasts are legendary.  The food here should be the best New Zealand has to offer.  There is a choice of venue for dining.  The main dining room pictured below, the Trophy Room, outdoors on the patio or in the wine cellar for small groups.

Dress for dinner:  Nice casual. No jackets required.
