Personal Impression and Location:  This is a new hotel that opened in September 2005.  The location is perfect right in the heart of downtown Queenstown.  Some of the rooms have a view of Lake Wakatipu or the mountains..
 

Accommodations:  The rooms are beautiful.   The rooms are decorated in cream, chocolate and coffee colors and feature french doors that open to a balcony with views of the mountain, lake and the town of Queenstown. All the rooms have sophisticated sound systems, wide screen plasma TV’s, high-speed broadband, wireless Lan and a separate data port.  Coffee making facilities are available as is your own personal espresso machine. The bathrooms are large and feature extensive walnut wood shelving, individually lit make up mirrors, and body and skin care products by the French company, L’Occitane. The bathtubs are HUGE.  They are unique “soak” tubs that take up to 50 gallons of water. All rooms are fully air-conditioned.
 

Public Rooms and Dining: The lobby is small and inviting with a contemporary flair and features a marble fireplace with decor lighting. Queenstown is all about great dining. The Sofitel  features a signature restaurant called VIE. The restaurant overlooks a landscaped garden and tranquil waterfall.  This is a five star dining experience showcasing the finest of New Zealand food with a touch of French artistry. There is also a champagne bar called NUE in the lobby.
