The property:  This is a beautiful small lodge offering spectacular scenery and very comfortable rooms.  The lodge is very elegant and includes some construction of old kauri, massive bridge and railway beams, polished hardwood floor and handcrafted ironwork. The main room in the lodge with the huge fireplace, comfortable furniture and the breathtaking view over the landscape beckons to you sit down, relax and stay a while.

Your Hosts:  John and Meg are a delightful couple that built Riverrun after extensive overseas travel.  Meg has a natural and warm personality that makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive.
 

Location: Riverrun overlooks rolling green hills, pastures and their land runs down to the Clutha River.  Wandering the property would be a delightful way to spend some time. With mountains as a back drop, flowers and green lawns sitting on the wide deck of the the lodge is a relaxing and tranquil experience.

Accommodations:  There are two types of guest rooms. The Clutha rooms are the largest with either a king bed or two twins and the Cardrona rooms are slightly smaller with queen beds.  All the rooms are a nice size and all have wonderful bathrooms. The rooms are all designated non smoking 

Activities:  Simply wandering the beautiful grounds is a wonderful activity. Either for a stroll or a hike up to Halliday bluff  with magnificient views of the Clutha River and Hawea plain.  A short distance form the lodge is an oversized cedar hot tub, with spa jets and a view of alpine ridges.  Wanaka that is just five minutes away and is full of multiple activities. From boating or jet boats on Lake Wanaka to scenic flights, swimming and multitude of activities. Wanaka is a delightful tourist town full of many delights. Of course the area also offers wine tasting and tours.

Dining: The property offers breakfast to all guests from a lengthy breakfast menu including local fresh orchard fruits and hand crafted breads and  hot breakfast items. Dinner is served each evening and reservations are required.  There are also many wonderful restaurants close by in Wanaka.
